Cleaning Tips for Bamboo Rugs

Stylish, elegant and environmental friendly. That's what bamboo rugs are today in the market. These rugs that are made of the bamboo plant are so durable but at the same time got this beauty that a bamboo rug only possess.

The plant bamboo is utilize in several uses even in the ancient times as part of the house, from flooring to the wall decoration of the room. Now, these bamboo are now made into rugs by weaving its fine stripts and mixed with other natural materials such as jute or cotton fibers to make a fabolous apperance called bamboo rugs. One popular bamboo rugs today is the anji mountain bamboo rug.

The edge of the bamboo rug is usually provided with a cotton binding and they come in a variety of colors, shapes, sizes and designs, bamboo rugs are surely a good investment if you want to add texture, dimension and a decorative touch to a room’s décor. Apart from that; the bamboo rug also provides a great option for covering large closed outside areas like the screened porch and gazebo.

The following are the basic tips that you can consider in maintaining your bamboo rugs clean and stylish:
  • Clean the rug everyday by simply lifting the rug and shaking it to remove the loose dirt.
  • Alter the traffic pattern on the rug, rotate the rug periodically every six months.
  • In vacuuming the rug, Use both the upright and canister cleaners to clean up your bamboo rug. It is advice to vacuum from various directions making several passes over an area many times to achieve the desired results.
  • Spills should be treated instantly. If liquids cause the spill, then it should be blotted with a clean cloth that is undyed. To absorb the spill, just press the cloth firmly around it for maximum absorption.
  • Use a spatula or spoon to remove solid materials and then wipe the affected area with a cloth that is turned frequently and kept clean. Repeat this process until the spot is not visible anymore.
  • The carpet can be dried by wiping with a cloth or absorbent tissue. To dry it further, you can turn the fan or hair dryer on the stain.

  1. What I don't like about these bamboo rugs is that they're quite a hassle to clean up. Love the fact that you can retain an oriental theme for a certain room, even if you remove the oriental carpet in exchange for one of these. I still prefer the good ole Persian carpets either way - mainly because they're much easier to clean up.
