The rugs made on this plant fiber can be characterized as a durable rug. It is known in using for fabricating sturdy and heavy-duty yarns and fabrics. The largest producer of Jute in the world is India, seconded by Bangladesh.
Bamboo Rugs - this is made of course by bamboo. As other rugs that uses wood materials, it possesses the water resistance but the vulnerability of being scratched by hard materials. However, due to its smooth texture and resistance to water, bamboo rugs are the easiest type of rugs to clean and maintain.

Different Kinds of Rugs: Plant Fibers

There are different kinds of rugs existing today. Before you choose what rugs that is more appropriate to your homes, let us familiarize the different rugs and information about them. From their origins to their characteristics as rugs and their appropriateness to any part of your house. Let us start with several sets of rugs weaved from plants first and my next post will discuss more about those who were taken from animals.

Sisal Rugs - this is taken from a plant called sisal (Agave Sisalana), a cactus plant that is used for making twine and ropes due to its stiff fiber. The fiber from this plan is extracted through the process called decortication where it is rolled by wheel with knives. Sisal are commonly harvested in Brazil, Tanzania and Kenya. What so different from the rugs made from sisal is that it is known for being tough and durable due to its natural fiber characteristic that's why it is recommended for flooring that requires tough covers.
Seagrass Rugs - This is another tough and hard wearing types of rugs weaved from a grass-like plant that grows on wet lands or in marine, fully-saline environment. The rugs weaved from seagrass are known to be resistant to stain and since the leaves of the plants which the rug was made are impermeable to water, its output rugs are surely rigid and tough.
