This is simply because rugs create an illusion of space or sometimes the opposite. But it also has an aesthetic and practical value.

Look for the Matching Color

Rug is a great accessory for a room and therefore in selecting one it is should be taken into consideration the color of the whole place/room first. I am really into this for a while and I think it will be very helpful if I will share this article to you. This is written by John James from Articler.com:

I love those outlet stores! You can really find a good bargain on clothes and shoes. But have you ever thought of searching for home accessories?

Are you in the market for an area rug? If so, you are probably aware of the many options that you can add to your home. But before you get so excited that you buy the first thing you see, slow down for a minute. There are many ways that you can get the area rug that you want without having to spend an arm and a leg. The best way to do this is by heading to an area rug outlet. Although you may not be able to find one in your town, chances are that there is one close by.

Before you buy from an area rug outlet, you need to know just a little bit about this process. There are a few minor details that will go a long way in ensuring that you get a high quality, affordably priced rug.

First off, you should know that area rug outlets do not carry low quality pieces. Believe it or not, a lot of people do not consider buying from an outlet because they think that they are going to sacrifice quality just to save a few bucks. All in all, nothing could be further from the truth. When you buy from an outlet, you are simply getting the pick of area rugs that were not sold at other locations. It has nothing to do with the lack of quality.

Another thing to keep in mind is that area rug outlets are always restocking time after time. While this will vary based on the store that you are dealing with, you should not be in a hurry to buy. If you do not find something that suits your needs, ask an employee how often they get new area rugs in stock. You may be surprised to find out that a new shipment comes in once a week. If this is the case, you might as well slow down and wait for another batch to arrive. This is much better than buying something that you do not like.

And speaking of buying something that you don't like, make sure that you know the return policy before you purchase from an area rug outlet. In some cases, you will not be able to return your rug if it does not work out. But of course, some stores will offer you a full refund or store credit. It is important that you are aware of this because there is a chance that you will get the area rug home just to find out that you do not like the way that it looks.

If you want to save money, while still having access to a large selection, shopping at an area rug outlet may be the way to go. You may have to search around for an area rug outlet, but once you find one, you will be well on your way to updating every room in your home!

Area Rugs Origins and the Weaving

Now a days, there are many kinds of area rugs that are available in the market and online shops that sells this floor decor are blooming like a mushroom on the net. If you will be asked, do you know how these originated and where it begins? For your information, area rugs are mainly classified into two types: Western and Asian. History said that Western Area Rugs originated in Spain during the 13th century. These were woven intricately by those from the Islamic nations and then imported. Not until in the 17th century that the country of France became the popular maker of area rugs in Europe. The cities of Aubusson and Savonnerie became the centers of making rugs in the western world back then. Later, England rose to become one of the famous makers of amazing area rugs. Soon, carpets were made by the use of machines but of course these were not as rarely beautiful as those which where handmade. These handmade rugs are known to be more durable and possesses unique designs. Machine-made carpets are known to be inexpensive compared to those which were hand woven.

Here are other significant events in the weaving of the rug / carpet:

Egypt was believed to weave the area rugs during the ancient times. The said rugs were flat and were used in praying chambers and not for decoration.

America produced area rugs in the 19th century that are reversible and made of wool (known as wool rugs)

Compared to the ancient rug to the current trend in carpets, you will see some significant difference. However, still the beginning of the rugs / carpets were all from our ancestors and we should be thankful about this. Without the area rugs in our home, what will it be like?

Tips on Keeping your Rugs Clean

Keep your rugs clean via cleaning it with vacuum often. Vacuuming it in weekly basis on both sides is recommended. If it is not possible, it should be done at least once every two weeks.

It is recommended that you turn or rotate the rug at least once a year. Turning the rug end for end or 180 degrees helps the rug to wear more evenly.

Remember that rugs should be rolled not folded.

Anyone who owns a carpet knows that it gets dirty. For a really thorough clean that gets rid of stains, spills and mud, you'll need a good steam cleaning rug carpet cleaners. There are professional companies that offer this service, and they are able to come into your home and do a very complete job of steaming your carpet clean.

Another way that you can clean your carpet is by purchasing a rug cleaner. This type of cleaner will do a fairly good job of cleaning your carpet superficially, but because they don't have the ability to actually steam the fibers, not all of the stains and dirt will be removed.

Most of the rugs are treated to be stain resistant which delays the stain setting in, giving you a chance to act. The key is to treat the stain or spill quickly before it is absorbed by the rug and dries.

Tips on Reinventing your Home

Your simple home can be a real show-stopper centerfold home model type if you’ll just make some effort and creativity to bring the best of out your conventional home. Improving and reinventing of any part of your house does not really mean you should spend a lot for it. The thing that you should consider is that is to try a little stretch of imagination and creativity. Here are some few tips to turn your ordinary home to a special interior designer's touch home:

1. Do not be anxious in trying different colors. Create bouncy mixtures of colors with your carpets, tiles, rugs, wall decors and wallpapers. If you still prefer the monochrome shades, try to put one or more furniture or any decorative pieces in invigorating shades. Transform old pictures into funky and colorful style portraits.

2. Go with Natural Colors. Try to emphasize the shades of nature’s color (such as yellow, green, brown and orange) into plain white parts of your house. Make sure to accessorize it with natural rugs or carpets such as jute rugs, sisal carpets, bamboo rugs and a soft yet natural colored shag rugs.

3. Upgrade and Recycle. Upgrade your old furniture from your garage with new upholstery. Old materials from different old decors can be recycled with a few upgrading on it. Mix and match new accessories with old ones in neutral colors.

4. Get a taste of the wild. Sisal fiber is known to be very durable and strong but the fibers of sisal rugs are sensitive to moisture. However, it is not not that delicate to clean because their natural structure makes the dirt to rest loosely in the weave, but it could be tricky due to its sensitivity to moisture. It is not advised to let the spot on sisal carpet for too long since it would cause a permanent damage on the said carpet.

On cleaning all-natural sisal carpets, always refer first to the distributor/maker’s recommended cleaning instruction for the care and cleaning of the fibers of the rugs. Regular maintenance of sisal rugs is very important to reduce the chance of staining. Here are some practical tips to improve that you can perform on your existing rugs:

First determine if the stain is a liquid stain or dried one. For liquid stains, blot the spilled area with a clean, dry cloth immediately. Remember, the longer the liquid stays on the fiber the harder it can be removed. Take note: DO NOT rub the liquid into the fabric because it might seep deeper into the fibers and can also spread the liquid to a larger area. Apply force straight down and hold until the cloth is saturated or the spill is cleaned. You can also use a small quantity of absorbent powder, sprinkle it on the affected area and let it stay for a couple of minutes. Brush off the residue then vacuum it.

Now, for dried materials or dirt, use a wooden knife to scrape away dried materials that stick to the rug. NEVER apply water or any liquid on the affected area as the dirt can further the damage the sisal fibers over time and eventually cause fraying and other damage. It's important to vacuum thoroughly because moisture applied to trapped dirt will darken that area of the rug.

These tips does not assure anything, if you can't perform it, just ask for professional help.

Other tips: Tips on Taking Care of Your Green Rugs

Cover Your Floors with Natural Carpets or Rugs

Why do you think that it is important to cover your flooring with natural carpets or rugs like the sisal carpets, seagrass rugs, wool rugs and bamboo rugs? Well first you need to determine what type of rugs do you have in your home. Is it synthetic or natural sisal rug? If it is synthetic, the usual method to clean it is through hot-water extraction or dry cleaning method as per recommended by the manufacturer of this rugs. Now, for the natural fiber-sisal rugs, the usual recommended way of cleaning it is through dry-cleaning only. It is not recommended that you use steam-clean or wet shampoo. It is because excessive liquid or dampness on the rugs may cause it to shrink or crumple which is not good for rugs appearance.

Removing stain from it should be done lightly using cleaning solution recommended by the manufacturer. It should not be applied directly but use a white towel to gently remove the said stains. I know that this should be done elaborately with high care. That is why it is better that the rugs should be applied with fabric protectants so that fibers of the rugs are protected from foreign dirt. Use only fabric protectant that is recommended by the manufacturers.

Choosing the Right Rugs for You

Rugs can really improve the appearance of the interior of the homes. You intend to neglect it resulting to the decrease of the life of the rugs. You should consider that in taking care of natural area rugs made from fibers of plants like the sisal rugs and jute rugs, these are fibers and intend to shrink or distort when soaked in liquid. So in cleaning rugs such as the sisal rug, rub the rug with a dry cloth, making sure not to rub the liquid into the fiber. You may need to repeat this, but remember to use a small amount of water to clean a sisal rug so that the rug does not absorb the liquid.

If you can't do this try hiring a professional help so that they can clean it for you.
